"Lilly Watch 2010," plus Joey Hates Us; He Really, Really Hates Us!
— According to Bruce Levine, Carlos Zambrano had a 25-pitch throwing session in Mesa, following the completion of his anger-management counseling. Zambrano and the Cubs are supposed to decide next week where Zambrano will be headed for his rehab stint.
— Paul Sullivan wrote that Jim Hendry and Te...
Welcome Back, Aramis Ramirez!
There’s not a more important bat in the Cubs’ lineup than Aramis’. He’s the best clutch hitter on the team, a proven RBI-man, a guy opponents pitch around. No surprise, obviously, the Cubs suffered offensively while Aramis slumped through the first half of the season batting below .200. Lately, however, Aramis has found his old [...]
A Big Night for the Cubs Big Bats - Cubs 12 Phillies 6
Game Ninety - Cubs 12 Phillies 6
WP - Ryan Dempster (8-7) LP - Jamie Moyer (9-9) Save - None
Thursday night began like so many for the Cubs in the first half. Before the offense ever stepped to the plate, the Cubs found themselves in a 2-0 hole. Ryan Howard launched the first of his two two-run ...
Zambranogate: Carlos Has No More Anger, is Throwing in Arizona
Chicago Cubs pitcher/teen heart-throb Carlos Zambrano has (successfully?) completed anger management therapy. I guess he’s not angry anymore – the anger sharks are no longer swimming. Far more importantly, he’s back on the mound. He’s getting his arm back in pitching shape at the team’s spring training complex in Mesa, Arizona. Zambrano threw 25 pitches [...]

Jamie Moyer (9-8, 4.51) vs Ryan Dempster (7-7, 3.61)
Overview
Well, the most boring sports day of the year has passed (yesterday). Hope you enjoyed the ESPYs. At least we got this little gem out of it. That aside, it's nice to have baseball back on the air (making it one of the few sports on the air today at a reasonable hour... unless you wake up a 3AM CST...
Cubs Pitching: Marshall is Good, Grabow is Bad, Gorzelanny is Ugly
Yesterday, we did the position players. Today, we find a little bit of good and a little bit of bad for each member of the pitching staff.
Mitch Atkins
Good: He has appeared in only two games for the Cubs this year.
Bad: The Cubs lost both games and he gave up a run in each one.

Ryan Dempster (7-7, 3.61/1.20) vs. Jamie Moyer (9-8, 4.51/1.08)
It's the unofficial start to the second half of the season and while the Cubs' post-season aspirations are over, maybe Lou's crew can just play better ball over the last 73 games.
The Cubs dug themselves such a big hole in th...
The Second Half Begins: Cubs vs. Phillies Preview, Thursday 7/15, 7:05 CT
Series Preview: Phillies @ Cubs (July 15-18, 2010)
Overview The All-Star Break is over. Thank God. Don't get me wrong, I love the All-Star game, but yesterday is the worst sports day of the year and I'm ready for the season to get going again. Even if it means I have to get frustrated consistently by the 2010 version of the Cubbies. The Cubs start the 2nd half of the season with a 10-game homestand (the longest of the season), and if they don't make serious progress in these first few games of the ...

Cubs Talkin' Lilly with the Mets?
According to a report from the Sun-Times, the Mets "have turned their attention recently to Ted Lilly". The Mets were "considered to have the inside track for Roy Oswalt" but are back on adding Lilly to their rotation. Rumors have suggested as much in many weeks, this is not the first time Lilly to the Mets rumors have surfaced.
George Ofman report...
Joey Votto Disses Marlon Byrd
I voted 25 times for Joey Votto’s All Star selection. When that wasn’t enough, I ‘voted Votto’ again in the Fan’s Choice voting. No way would I let the NL’s first half MVP get left behind… even if it was a Cincinnati Red and not a Chicago Cub. But after Votto’s Bush League move Tuesday [...]
Series Preview: Phillies v. Cubs, July 15 – July 18, 2010
It’s series preview time again as the second half begins, and the Chicago Cubs are set to DOMINATE! Ha. Snap. But seriously, the Cubs welcome the Philadelphia Phillies to Wrigley for a four-game set. You should probably set your phasers to “lose,” as any glimmer of hope at this point in the season will be [...]

Lukewarm Stove: Derrek Lee Would Accept a Trade to the Los Angeles Angels
Chicago Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee is a free agent after this year and it’s no secret that, if possible, the Cubs would like to move him. One potential hurdle? Lee has no-trade protection. But it sounds like that might not actually be much of a hurdle after all. Derrek Lee has remained noncommittal on [...]
